Many Americans suffer from unnecessary stress

From a health column in our local paper, a letter to a Dr. Donohue...

Dear Dr. Donohue,
I had a wonderful physician back in the 1950's who said we all suffer from "Americanitis" an illness indigenous to the United States. He said we complain about stress where none exists until the stress itself becomes a problem.

The Dr. wrote ..
I think we do suffer from worry about many things that never come to pass. I also believe that worry wasted on events and news over which we have no control is unhealthy.

I absolutely believe in this, and in today's "micro wave society " and 24/7 new cycle and how we simply can no longer " shut down " it is even more complicated.

Do not insert worry and stress in your life where it is not. Do not buy into everybody's complaints and stress.

Live your own life and just concern yourself with what you have control of.
