Fuel

Life can be cruel
People can be hurtful
Business can be ruthless
Use it all as fuel !
Have you been let go at work or watch abuse of power in the workplace? Join the crowd, you are not alone and it is not a unique situation and unfortunately it seems as if with small business being squeezed out big business has less of a soul and less loyalty-
- all that said what can YOU do for your own piece of mind to stay positive?
Use it all as fuel to set up your walls, your goals and do not allow the negative to pull you down, take it as a personal challenge to cut out your slice and whatever you - DO NOT allow THEM to win because when you give up or join the crowd to just try to survive you lose !
Stand tall and be your own person and here’s the real hard part- turn the other cheek.

You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.

Against the Wind

It seems like yesterday
But it was long ago
Janey was lovely she was the queen of my nights
There in the darkness with the radio playing low, and
And the secrets that we shared
The mountains that we moved
Caught like a wildfire out of control
'Til there was nothing left to burn and nothing left to prove
And I remember what she said to me
How she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me oh-so-tight
Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then
Against the wind
We were runnin' against the wind
We were young and strong, we were runnin' against the wind
The years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home, and I
Guess I lost my way
There were oh-so-many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searching
Searching for shelter again and again
Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter against the wind
Well those drifter's days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out
Against the wind
I'm still runnin' against the wind
I'm older now but still runnin' against the wind
Well I'm older now and still runnin'
Against the wind

They don’t like us

I was listening to a Congressman trying to make his point by yelling “ they don’t like us”  and
“They don’t like you”
It really struck a nerve with me for several reasons.
I feel this type of conversation by anybody in any arena is destructive and fans the flame of hate.
When I was a kid growing up both in the neighborhood and in school people always tried to get you on their side by talking trash about the other person and I was never comfortable with that, I want to make up my own mind. I always thought those people to be sheep , sometimes they may have their own bias but I do not want their bias to just become my bias.
When I started working full time I found the same type of tribalism and again if someone tried to get me to join their click by demeaning other people I ran in the other direction.
I do not like the word “ like” in these circumstances, I may not agree with a person because of the way they treat people or treat me or their work ethic or character , or lack of , and I may choose to not hang with that person because of that or put my total trust in them but to just say I do not “ like” them is wrong.
This particular Congressman was saying because I may not agree with him I must not like him and worse he said I do not like 63 million people that may have voted a certain way and even worse he said I do not like all people that live in a particular State or region of the United States, this is all so very wrong and tribal.
I am 62 years old and because of the full time job I held for over three decades I was blessed to know and work with people all throughout this great country and in every State and their were many that I may have vehemently disagreed with in many areas but I still always found common ground and in many cases made friendships for a lifetime.
Grouping any group of people , race, religion, political beliefs, where they may live or what they may believe is the definition of racism and prejudice- Do not be sheep! Think for yourselves and always try to find that common ground- we all want to live our lives and be loved and enjoy our families and friends and we all just visiting this wonderful world and here in the United States we all part of this great experiment of Democracy where people of all beliefs and race can coexist- it is what we make it!
