In the last post Gerry Spence refers to learning from children and even learning from his dog.
For those of us with children and pets you know what he means.
When you watch children enter a room with other children they gravitate right to the other children. They do not prejudge or have any alternative motives they only want to make a friend and play.
We were all like that once upon a time.
What happened?
When did we change?
As adults you get stand offish, or you are afraid to approach strangers to start a conversation. You develop clicks and you keep people at bay until you almost feel each other out.
Is it because we get burned along the way or someone hurt us ? No one likes rejection so if you are rejected a few times the easy thing to do is to just keep to yourself or the people that you already know.
That is what Gerry says in the last post , that just observing the innocence of children or how when his dog just wants to be pet and loved there are no games they are pretentious.
Try not to prejudge , just be yourself .
Pull people in, don't keep them at arms length, they may surprise you.
Once you start the conversation you start to learn more from them and the walls start to come down.
The more we learn the more we all grow.
