I had a job out of Tucson,Az.,The school of Mines....It seams a Virginia Mountain boy had gone out west to escape the coal mines of western Virginia,only to be drawn back to his home(they needed his degree back at home)and I was assigned to move him back.....It was only about 5000#'s and talking to my shipper,it was going to his dad's garage.....BACK IN A HOLLAR in Grundy(look it up),Virginia...

All went well at origin,and when I called his dad to warn him about being there,it got interesting.....

I called,he answered,I asked about the HOLLAR.....Sir I'm long and may have problems getting into a HOLLAR.....His response was...”Just how long are you BOY?”RUT ROH?Well?I'm 85 feet with the gate......He then tells me he's the regional supervisor for the Virginia highway patrol and if I get more than a few feet off that state route down in town he will write me a $300 ticket for being over length....

I then asked if there was a u-haul dealer down in town?He say's yes,no problem.....I said ok,meet me there at 8 am....Ok no problem....He then asks what I'm going to do....Well,unload all your sons stuff onto a small truck to take it into your hollar,he says,that will work.At that point I explained to him,you explained to me what the rules were,so here comes our rules.....$120 per hour for the shuttle,CASH!

Kind of funny how that worked out,he escorted me in and out of his address with his squad car....No charge for the shuttle.......
