I was in work Meeting with about 12 -14 People and everyone was engaged, sitting up and looking like they wanted to participate, except for one in particular. He was slouched back looking at his phone the entire time, even when he did speak his eyes never left his phone... are you kidding me ?
Come on people, be aware of how others look at you and goodness sake respect them.
When you cannot even sit up and look people in the eye you might as well not participate because you are doing no one any favors and most of all yourself.
You are telling everyone that you do not respect them, you might as well get up and slap them all in the face because that is how it is perceived and that feeling will leave the room with them.
Why?
I do not care how many years you have been at your job or what the subject matter may be or who is speaking... it is just plain rude. And do you really think that whatever is said you can not learn or help?
Always be aware of your body language, rather you are in a meeting or just sitting across from someone- what are you telling them ? What are your facial expressions? Why put up a wall ?
No matter what we do we can always learn and no matter what we do we need others.
Do not show your arrogance... be aware... who knows you may actually learn something or at least look at something differently which may allow you to think differently when you leave the room.
