This morning I will be attending a church service fir my friend and co-worker's dad who passed away this week and once again I will be reminded that we are all just visiting.
We get caught up in every day and sometimes, actually most times, we make things out to be bigger than they are. I have said before to not sweat the small stuff and most everything is small.
After all we are here for such a short time and in the end no one will really care about all the petty crap that we carried with us.
To quote the Beatles " In the end the love you take is equal to the love you make".
Yea, what we leave behind is hopefully some positive that our loved ones and those close to us will also pass on.
When you see people picking up the pieces after a disaster like we just went through with Sandy and they are walking through the rubble that was once their home they all search for the same things, pictures of memories that they had. Because it is not the couch or chair or TV that they cry for , it is the picture of their mother or father or children because that is all that matters.
I know that it is easier said than done but if we could live life like you are dieing maybe you would look at things and people different. In reality that is what you are doing, you are dieing. We all are here to just visit and hopefully enjoy the wonder around us.
Part of morning prayer is remember to try to help others and to enjoy the day.
Look up at that blue sky and watch the clouds and the birds. Remember when you were a child and you just laid down on the grass in your backyard and looked up at the sky.
Times were simpler then - try it now- why not.
Take the time to just look up and around you. Take a deep breath in and exhale.
We are just visiting.
